NABA Intercity History

NABA Intercity is one of North America’s longest running Filipino Heritage Basketball Organizations. Originally founded in 1989, Volleyball was added in 2016.

Starting with just 5 cities in North America in 1989, Naba Intercity now brings together teams from the United States and Canada at our annual NABA intercity Tournament held on Labor Day weekend.

NABA Intercity is a private, non profit organization. Our mission is to unite and elevate the games of basketball and volleyball amongst the Filipino communities in North America.

We organize and facilitate our national Labor Day tournament in North America, conduct player identification training sessions for the Philippine National Basketball Program, organize coaching seminars, and various sporting events throughout the year.

NABA Intercity is a board member accredited by SBP (Samahang Basketbol ng Pilpinas), the governing basketball body of the Philippines.

The focus of NABA Intercity is to offer the best option in basketball and volleyball competition for the alpine communities in North America. The NABA Intercity Leadership has these strategic objectives for 2022-2027 that will guide the entire organization over the coming years, as well as three strategic priorities to:

  • Empower the North American Filipino Organization

  • Women in Basketball / Volleyball

  • Grow the NABA Community
